component, an optional separate purchase from the insulin pump,
monitors blood glucose every minute, displays updated REAL-Time
glucose readings every five minutes, provides 3- and 24-hour glucose
trend graphs, and alarms when blood sugar levels fluctuate too high
or too low. The MiniMed Paradigm REAL-Time Insulin Pump is indicated
for the management of diabetes mellitus in persons of all ages
requiring insulin. The REAL-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring
components are indicated to supplement blood glucose information
from standard home blood glucose meters for persons seven years and
older. A separate pediatric model is indicated for patients ages
7-17. A fingerstick measurement is required before taking action.
